Reminders:
- Please send your child in their PE kit on Mondays and Fridays.
- PE kit is a plain white t-shirt with dark trainers or pumps, and blue or black shorts. Plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms may be worn in the winter.

- Homework will be given on Fridays to reflect the week’s learning.
- Children will also practice spellings for the Grand Spell each Friday, as well as their multiplication for the times tables test that takes place on Friday mornings.
-
Reading books will be changed when the children have read them and they have been signed by an adult. Please make sure the children are reading regularly to practise their skills. We encourage all our children to read for at least 10 minutes every day outside of the classroom.
Y4 Multiplication Check - June 2025
In Year 4, the children complete a multiplication check test. This will be completed on a tablet/iPad and it consists of the children answering 25 times tables facts (multiplication only) with 6 seconds to answer each one. There is no pass or fail mark but the children should be constantly learning and revising their times tables up to 12 times 12 as much as possible. Children will be practising in school on TT Rock Stars and they will be completing the 'Soundcheck' option, as this is timed just like the multiplication check. If they could also practise at home on TT Rock Stars, this would be a great help!
Year 4 Spring Curriculum Overview:
Religion - We are learning about the local Church community, the children will learn about lay people of all ages are called to undertake various roles, called ministries, by virtues of their Baptism and Confirmation. They help to build up the local community of the parish.

The children will be immeresed in their learning, through exploring the chararcter's, dialogue in the text and writing an alternative ending. We will also look at the book 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wadrobe' where we will be writing setting descriptions.
Maths - We begin the year focusing on the foundational skill of multiplication and division. The children will continue to improve their knowledge of number though manipulation of number when partitioning, reading and writing numbers. We will use this knowledge and apply it to a variety of question styles, concentrating first on fluency and then progressing on to reasoning and problem solving questions. As always we promote oracy in this subject and the children will be using this skill to explain to their peers, how and why they have used methods, ultimately furthering and imbedding their learning.
