Christ The King RC Primary School

Our Caritas Ambassadors

At Christ the King, we believe that Jesus calls each of us to love and serve others with compassion and kindness. Our Caritas Ambassadors embody this mission by actively promoting social justice and living out the principles of Catholic Social Teaching within our school community and beyond.

Trained and commissioned by the Diocese of Salford, our Caritas Ambassadors are passionate advocates for positive change. They lead initiatives that support those in need, raise awareness of social issues, and inspire others to put faith into action. Through their dedication, they help to nurture a culture of empathy, service, and hope, reflecting the heart of our Catholic ethos.

Together, our Caritas Ambassadors ensure that Christ the King is a place where love is lived, justice is pursued, and every member of our community is valued and supported.

Caritas Ambassadors play a vital role in promoting and developing social action projects both within the school and the wider parish and local community. Their work embodies the school’s commitment to “faith in action,” demonstrating Gospel values through practical support and care for others.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Promote Social Action:

    • Lead initiatives that encourage pupils and staff to engage in charitable and community-focused activities.
    • Organise and support fundraising events throughout the school year to raise awareness and resources for those in need.
  2. Raise Awareness of Caritas:

    • Act as representatives of Caritas within the Salford Diocese, helping to increase understanding and participation in Caritas activities.
    • Share the message of Catholic Social Teaching, highlighting the importance of compassion, justice, and service.
  3. Demonstrate Faith in Action:

    • Model the school’s Gospel values by actively caring for others, showing empathy and responsibility.
    • Encourage the school community to recognise their role in supporting “all of our brothers and sisters in God’s world,” reinforcing a global sense of solidarity and justice.
  4. Community Impact:

    • Drive projects that have a positive impact on the local community, such as supporting vulnerable groups, environmental care, or other charitable causes.
    • Foster a culture of kindness and respect, and service among pupils, aligning with the school’s mission to prepare children to play meaningful roles in society.

As part of our care for our school community, we have our own food and uniform bank, organised by the Caritas Ambassadors. This is supported by families and staff within the school, and is accessed regularly by those in need within our school community.  We are very grateful for the generous support that our school community provides.

Our Caritas Ambassadors launched our Harvest Appeal at both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two assemblies.  They made posters to advertise around school and collected all the donated items.  These were shared between our 'Care and Share' and our church foodbank.  We presented the Caritas Award , for putting 'love into action',  to the class who donated the most items.

Festive Brunch Hosted by Our Caritas Ambassadors

Our dedicated Caritas Ambassadors warmly welcomed parishioners to Christ the King for a joyful festive brunch. Guests were treated to beautiful carol singing performed by our talented school choir, creating a wonderful holiday atmosphere. Alongside the music, everyone enjoyed delicious drinks, cakes, and the pleasure of good company. It was a heartwarming celebration of community spirit and festive cheer.
