What We Are Learning About - Autumn 1
In Religion, through the topic of Creation and Covenant we will be recapping over the creation story and finding out what covenant actually means to us.
Maths
In Maths, our topic this term is Place Value. Through this topic the children will be learning how to represent and partition numbers to 100. The children will also be doing this with numbers to 1,000 along with ordering and comparing numbers.
Useful Maths Websites:
English
In English, we will be looking at a fiction book called 'Buster'. The writing journey for the children will be leading up to writing a letter of apology. We will also be looking at another fiction book called 'Lizzie and the birds' where the children will be writing a speech.
Useful English Websites:
Science
In Science, the children will work scientifically on a variety of quick investigations and longer tasks to learn about Food and Our Bodies. Within in this topic the children will discover which foods are in the different food groups.
Geography
In Geography, the children will be learning about Our World. From this topic the children will be able to identify where the equator and lines of latitude are on a world map.
What You Need to Know
Please send your child in their PE kit on the days they do PE. For Y3K this will be on a Monday and a Thursday. For Y3A it will be on a Monday and a Wednesday.
PE kit is a plain white t-shirt with dark trainers or pumps, and blue or black shorts. Plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms may be worn in the winter.
Homework will be given on Fridays to reflect the week’s learning, in Maths, spellings and handwriting. We recommend spending no more than 20 - 30 minutes on homework per night. Children will also practise spellings and take part in the Grand Spell each week.
Please check this page regularly as we will be posting updates on there as well as the school website.
Please make sure that aside from completing homework, your child is reading for a minimum of 10 minutes every night. If you have any concerns about your child’s homework, please speak to Mrs Coyle or Mr Kendrick
