What We Are Learning About - Spring 1
In Religion, through the topic of Journeys the children will be learning about the Liturgical calendar. We will discuss the special celebrations that happen throughout the year and explain how they are celebrated.
Maths
In Maths, we will be looking at Multiplication and Division. The children will learn how to multiply and divide by 3, 4 and 8. We will also be using formal methods for both operations so that the children know when to exchange.
Useful Maths Websites:
English
In English, we will be looking at a variety of different Non-fiction texts about the Stone Age. The writing opportunity for this unit of work is an information leaflet where the children will be able to showcase all of their knowledge that they have acquired about the Stone Age through our English and History lessons.
Useful English Websites:
Science
In Science, the children will work scientifically on a variety of quick investigations and longer tasks to learn about Rocks. Within in this topic the children will discover which rocks are permeable and which are impermeable.
Geography
In Geography, the children will be learning about Climate and Weather. Through this the children will explore how different parts of the world experience different climates.
What You Need to Know
Please send your child in their PE kit on the days they do PE. For Y3K this will be on a Monday and a Thursday. For Y3C it will be on a Monday and a Wednesday.
PE kit is a plain white t-shirt with dark trainers or pumps, and blue or black shorts. Plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms may be worn in the winter.
Homework will be given on Fridays to reflect the week’s learning, in Maths, spellings and handwriting. We recommend spending no more than 20 - 30 minutes on homework per night. Children will also practise spellings and take part in the Grand Spell each week.
Please check this page regularly as we will be posting updates on there as well as the school website.
Please make sure that aside from completing homework, your child is reading for a minimum of 10 minutes every night. If you have any concerns about your child’s homework, please speak to Mrs Coyle or Mr Kendrick
