What We Are Learning About - Autumn 2
In Religion, through the topic of Baptism the children will learn about why sacrament of Baptism is so special. The children will find out about the different symbols of Baptism along with the different stages of the Baptism mass.
Maths
In Maths, we will be looking at Addition and subtraction. The children will learn how to add and subtract 1's, 10's and 100's. There will also be a focus on when we need to exchange and when we don't.
Useful Maths Websites:
English
In English, we will be looking at the book 'Stone Age Boy' with the writing outcome being for the children to write a letter of thanks. Within the writing journey there will be a focus on paragraphs and writing in the past tense. We will also be looking at the book 'How to catch Santa' with the purpose to write a set of instructions.
Useful English Websites:
Science
In Science, the children will work scientifically on a variety of quick investigations and longer tasks to learn about Forces and Magnets. Within in this topic the children will discover which objects are magnetic and which are not.
History
In History, the children will be learning about the Stone Age. In particular they will find out about what Stone Age people lived in, what they ate and what they wore.
What You Need to Know
Please send your child in their PE kit on the days they do PE. For Y3K this will be on a Monday and a Thursday. For Y3C it will be on a Monday and a Wednesday.
PE kit is a plain white t-shirt with dark trainers or pumps, and blue or black shorts. Plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms may be worn in the winter.
Homework will be given on Fridays to reflect the week’s learning, in Maths, spellings and handwriting. We recommend spending no more than 20 - 30 minutes on homework per night. Children will also practise spellings and take part in the Grand Spell each week.
Please check this page regularly as we will be posting updates on there as well as the school website.
Please make sure that aside from completing homework, your child is reading for a minimum of 10 minutes every night. If you have any concerns about your child’s homework, please speak to Mrs Coyle or Mr Kendrick
