What We Are Learning About - Spring 2
In Religion, through the topic of Lent the children will be thinking about what their Lenten promises are going to be. We will discuss how we can pray more, donate more and give up more during this time.
Maths
In Maths, we will be looking at Length and perimeter along with Money. The children will learn how to convert from cm to mm and cm to m so that they can then add and subtract different units of measure. They also be working on converting, adding and subtracting amounts of money.
Useful Maths Websites:
English
In English, we will be looking at a fiction book called 'Winter's Child'. This text really helps the children to develop their understanding of prepositions and how to use expanded noun phrases to describe a setting. Through this text the children will also be looking at speech and how to punctuate speech correctly.
Useful English Websites:
Science
In Science, the children will work scientifically on a variety of quick investigations and longer tasks to learn about Light. Within in this topic the children will discover which surfaces are reflective and how to stay safe in the sun.
History
In History, the children will be learning about the Bronze and Iron age. In particular the we will be finding out how they used to live and how things progressed from the Stone Age.
What You Need to Know
Please send your child in their PE kit on the days they do PE. For Y3K this will be on a Monday and a Thursday. For Y3C it will be on a Monday and a Wednesday.
PE kit is a plain white t-shirt with dark trainers or pumps, and blue or black shorts. Plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms may be worn in the winter.
Homework will be given on Fridays to reflect the week’s learning, in Maths, spellings and handwriting. We recommend spending no more than 20 - 30 minutes on homework per night. Children will also practise spellings and take part in the Grand Spell each week.
Please check this page regularly as we will be posting updates on there as well as the school website.
Please make sure that aside from completing homework, your child is reading for a minimum of 10 minutes every night. If you have any concerns about your child’s homework, please speak to Mrs Coyle or Mr Kendrick
