What We Are Learning About - Spring 1
In Religion, through the topic of Prophecy and Promise we will recognise that Sunday is a holy day for Christians, making simple links between the story of Creation and Sunday as a day of rest.
Maths
In Maths, our topic this term is Multiplication and Division. The children will be looking at how equal groups, arrays, sharing and grouping can help with learning multiplication and division facts. In year 3 we pay particular focus to the the 3s, 4s and 8s.
Useful Maths Websites:
English
In English, we will be looking at the fiction book 'How to wash a Woolly Mammoth'. Through this text the children will be writing a set of instructions by using headings and subheadings, bullet points or numbers. The children will also learn how to use imperative verbs when writing their instructions.
Useful English Websites:
Science
In Science, the children will work scientifically on a variety of quick investigations and longer tasks to learn about Rocks. Within in this topic the children will discover which rocks are permeable and which are impermeable.
Geography
In Geography, we will be learning about Climate and Weather. The children will find out what a Biome is by discovering what weather will happen in each Biome and where abouts in the world they are.
What You Need to Know
Please send your child in their PE kit on the days they do PE. For Y3K this will be on a Monday and a Thursday. For Y3A it will be on a Monday and a Wednesday.
PE kit is a plain white t-shirt with dark trainers or pumps, and blue or black shorts. Plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms may be worn in the winter.
Homework will be given on Fridays to reflect the week’s learning, in Maths, spellings and handwriting. We recommend spending no more than 20 - 30 minutes on homework per night. Children will also practise spellings and take part in the Grand Spell each week.
Please check this page regularly as we will be posting updates on there as well as the school website.
Please make sure that aside from completing homework, your child is reading for a minimum of 10 minutes every night. If you have any concerns about your child’s homework, please speak to Mrs Coyle or Mr Kendrick
