What We Are Learning About - Autumn 1
In Religion, through the topic of Creation and Covenant the children will be reminded of the Creation story and how this links to covenant. We will also think about the Creation story and how it is relevant in our lives today.
Maths
In Maths, our topic this term is Place Value. There will be a focus on the Hundreds, Tens and Ones in 3-digit numbers up to 1,000. The children will also work on ordering and comparing numbers.
Useful Maths Websites:
English
In English, we will be looking at the fiction book 'Stay'. This is about a naughty dog called Buster and the children will be working towards writing a letter of apology to their owner Ben to say sorry for their behaviour whilst he was on holiday. After this we will be reading the book 'Lizzie and the birds' and the children we write a speech as the evil tornado.
Useful English Websites:
Science
In Science, the children will work scientifically on a variety of quick investigations and longer tasks to learn about Food and our bodies. Within this topic the children will discover the different food types and bones in the body.
Geography
In Geography this term the children will be learning about 'Our World' and the lines of latitude. There will also be a focus on the northern and southern hemispheres and which continents, countries and oceans are in them.
What You Need to Know
Please send your child in their PE kit on the days they do PE. For Y3K this will be on a Wednesday and a Thursday. For Y3Z it will be on a Wednesday and a Friday.
PE kit is a plain white t-shirt with dark trainers or pumps, and blue or black shorts. Plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms may be worn in the winter.
Homework will be given on Fridays to reflect the week’s learning, in Maths, spellings and handwriting. We recommend spending no more than 20 - 30 minutes on homework per night. Children will also practise spellings and take part in the Grand Spell each week.
Please check this page regularly as we will be posting updates on there as well as the school website.
Please make sure that aside from completing homework, your child is reading for a minimum of 10 minutes every night. If you have any concerns about your child’s homework, please speak to Mrs Coyle or Mr Kendrick
