What We Are Learning About - Summer 1
In Religion, through the topic of To The Ends of The Earth we will be looking at the story of the Road to Emmaus. The children will be making links to the Feeding of the 5,000, the Last Supper and the Mass - Eucharist.
Maths
In Maths, our topic this term is Length and Measurement. Through this unit of work the children will learn how to measure in metres, centimetres and millimetres along with finding equivalent lengths.
Useful Maths Websites:
English
In English, we will be looking at the fiction book 'Orion and the Dark'. The first piece of writing that the children will be completing is a detailed explanation about why the character is scared of the dark. The children will then write a letter of persuasion from the dark to Orion about why he does not need to be scared.
Useful English Websites:
Science
In Science, the children will work scientifically on a variety of quick investigations and longer tasks to learn about Light. Within this topic the children will discover how shadows are formed and how the size of them can change.
History
In History, we will be learning about the Bronze and Iron Age. The children will find out about how they lived during this time period and how things changed from the Stone Age.
What You Need to Know
Please send your child in their PE kit on the days they do PE. For Y3K this will be on a Monday and a Thursday. For Y3A it will be on a Monday and a Wednesday.
PE kit is a plain white t-shirt with dark trainers or pumps, and blue or black shorts. Plain black or blue tracksuit bottoms may be worn in the winter.
Homework will be given on Fridays to reflect the week’s learning, in Maths, spellings and handwriting. We recommend spending no more than 20 - 30 minutes on homework per night. Children will also practise spellings and take part in the Grand Spell each week.
Please check this page regularly as we will be posting updates on there as well as the school website.
Please make sure that aside from completing homework, your child is reading for a minimum of 10 minutes every night. If you have any concerns about your child’s homework, please speak to Mrs Coyle or Mr Kendrick
